President Duterte vows to support the family of Joanna Demafelis: Ilan pa nag aaral sa inyo? Pag aralin namin

President Rodrigo Duterte told the family of the slain Kuwait-based Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) Joanna Demafeles that he’s going to support them.

During Duterte’s visit in the wake of Demafelis at Barangay Feraris in Sara, Iloilo on February 22, 2018, he said that the government is going to finance the studies of the only child left by the OFW.

“Ilan pa ang nagaaral sa mga anak niyo? Isa? Sige pag-aralin namin.” Duterte told the family of Demafelis.

He also gave smartphones to the bereaved families of the slain OFW.

According to him, he will still continue the deployment ban on Kuwait and the government is ready to feed all the OFWs who’s going to be affected by his order.

“Pagtulong sa ating kapwa Pilipino. Ubusin natin ang pera hindi naman atin yan. Wala naman akong makuha.” Duterte said.

Duterte also said that he’s considering to order employment ban in other countries where there are many reports of OFW abuses.

According to him, they’re doing an audit of countries hosting OFWs to check if they suffer “brutal treatment and human degradation.

Yesterday, Senator Manny Pacquiao also vowed to financially help the family of Joanna Demafelis.

“Mr. Secretary, ‘yung problema ng magulang niya na nasangla ‘yung lupa, pakisabi po ako na mag-[babayad] doon sa sangla ng lupa niya, Galing kasi ako sa hirap, Mr. Secretary, at ‘yung paghihirap ng mga mahihirap na tao, nararamdaman ko ‘yun,” Pacquiao said.

Joanna Demafelis is the OFW who got murdered by her employer. She was found inside a freezer inside an apartment which formally occupied by her employer in Kuwait.

Until today, the Syrian and Lebanese national who murdered the OFW is still not found.

Because of this case, President Duterte ordered the deployment ban in Kuwait and offered a free flight to the distressed OFW to go back to the Philippines.
